Platform Guide
Features
Everything you need to know about using TeachMap AI effectively. From generating lesson plans to tutoring students with AI.
Overview
TeachMap AI is an educational platform built around three core features: the Lesson Plan Generator, AI Tutor (Carta), and Learning Hub games. Each feature is designed to work together, creating a complete learning ecosystem.
The platform follows a simple flow: generate a lesson plan first, then use that lesson plan to power AI tutoring sessions and educational games. This ensures all learning activities are aligned with your curriculum.
Lesson Plan Generator
The Lesson Plan Generator creates comprehensive, standards-aligned lesson plans in minutes. It produces complete lesson components including objectives, activities, assessments, and printable student materials.
How to Use
- Enter your subject — Be specific. "5th Grade Fractions" works better than just "Math"
- Select grade level — This adjusts complexity and vocabulary appropriately
- Add notes (optional) — Include specific standards, time constraints, or focus areas
- Generate — The AI creates a complete lesson plan in about 30 seconds
- Review and edit — Customize any section to fit your needs
What You Get
- • Learning objectives aligned to standards
- • Detailed lesson procedure with timing
- • Discussion questions and activities
- • Assessment materials and rubrics
- • Printable student handouts
- • Differentiation suggestions
Best Practices
Subject Input Tips
The quality of your lesson plan depends heavily on how you describe your subject. Here's what works best:
Good Examples
- • "Introduction to photosynthesis for 7th grade biology"
- • "American Revolution causes and effects - 8th grade US History"
- • "Multiplying fractions with unlike denominators - 5th grade"
- • "Persuasive essay structure - high school English"
Too Vague
- • "Science"
- • "History lesson"
- • "Math"
Using the Notes Field
The notes field is powerful for customization. Use it to specify:
- • Specific standards (e.g., "Align to CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.NF.A.1")
- • Time constraints (e.g., "45-minute class period")
- • Student needs (e.g., "Include visual aids for ELL students")
- • Materials available (e.g., "Students have Chromebooks")
- • Prior knowledge (e.g., "Students already understand basic fractions")
Subjects That Work Best
The generator excels at:
- • Core academics — Math, Science, English/Language Arts, Social Studies
- • World languages — Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, etc.
- • STEM topics — Computer science, engineering concepts
- • Arts — Music theory, art history, drama
- • Health & PE — Nutrition, fitness concepts, health education
AI Tutor (Carta)
Important: The AI Tutor requires a lesson plan to function. Generate a lesson plan first, then access the tutor from that lesson's page.
Carta is an AI tutoring assistant that helps students understand lesson content through conversation. It uses your generated lesson plan as context, ensuring all tutoring stays aligned with your curriculum.
How It Works
- Generate a lesson plan — This becomes the tutor's knowledge base
- Open the AI Tutor — Click the tutor button on your lesson plan page
- Ask questions — Students can type or use voice input
- Get explanations — The AI explains concepts using the lesson content
Features
- • Voice interaction — Students can speak questions and hear responses
- • Adaptive explanations — Adjusts complexity based on student understanding
- • Curriculum-aligned — Only teaches what's in your lesson plan
